Welcome!

The Civic Leaders Internship Program (CLIP) supports undergraduate students who desire an opportunity to serve the State of Missouri through internship opportunities in publicly-funded offices. CLIP not only gives academic credit for the internships, it also provides site placement service and orientation activities along with regular visits to each site during the internship.

Sophomores, juniors and seniors from degree programs across campus have participated in CLIP internships.

Examples of internship sites include the Lieutenant Governor's office, the Department of Agriculture, the Attorney General's office, and many state representatives and senators.

Ben Jones, a Political Science major, goes over talking points with his supervisor in the office of the Speaker.

Senior Finance and Banking major Margi Hughes finishes surveys.

Robert Nyenhuis, a senior Political Science major, gives a proposal to Majority Whip Brian Nieves for review.

To receive CLIP credit, students enroll in 3028(H)(for Honors or non-Honors credit). This course requires students to think and write about their experiences. In addition, each Winter semester the CLIP office offers a 3-hour class entitled "State Government and Leadership" through the Honors College. The class, which is held in the Capitol Building in Jefferson City, includes topics such as the budget process, leadership theory, term limits, and government ethics.

If you are an MU student, a faculty member or a potential internship site interested in learning more about the Civic Leaders Internship Program, please read more about how you can get involved, or please feel free to email Daisy Olivo at olivod@missouri.edu.
